Since most people don’t watch CNN (Fox News instead), it came as a shock to find Jake Tapper on our side. Amazing, people said.
Tapper roundly supported President Trump and the United States and Israel.
Hours after the UN General Assembly voted 128 to 9 in an attempt to isolate the U.S. for declaring Jerusalem the capital of Israel, Tapper editorialized that they were wrong and we were right. This should not be surprising. But coming as it did from a voice at CNN, surprising and amazing.
Coming as it would from The New York Times, or ABC, CBS, NBC or PBS, or NPR – it would be staggering, an unimaginable turn to the truth.
Or as one reader had it, speaking for thousands and even millions: “Tapper spoke true. He is sure to get fired.”
That’s how we feel about it here in the United States. That’s how we feel about the news media. We don’t trust them. We don’t believe them. It’s been so for decades. But this year was the worst, and all because, being mostly Liberal and still hankering for Obama and whoring for Hillary, they are out to Get Trump.
They will find any pretext to do him harm. Over at ABC, Brian Ross rushed to judgment when he reported that Michael Flynn was prepared to testify that Trump “as a candidate” asked him to contact the Russians. That was a mistake. ABC took it back. Ross was suspended.
Other news outlets made the same mistake on that and upon other Russia-related scandals that never happened.
Russia was the big story of 2017, and always the wrong story. The media tried every which way to get Trump on collusion and they kept coming up empty.
From one false lead to another, they wasted our time. They wasted our trust.
It’s not only what they’re telling that is so untrue, it is also what they’re hiding. On Israel, never a word about the thousands of Syrians the Israelis are saving.
On news that many of Mueller’s investigators are cheerleaders for Hillary – that you know mostly from Fox News.
Liberals, after all, succeed only when they can keep the population illiterate, barefoot and pregnant. Obama aide Ben Rhodes boasted that Obama’s Iran Nuke Deal depended on “the stupidity of the American voter for the thing to pass.” Thus Liberals want more “stupid” Democrats voting. Which means they want more “stupid” immigrants.
The media tried every which way to get Trump on collusion and they kept coming up empty. From one false lead to another, they wasted our time. They wasted our trust.
So they won’t tell you the crime rate that persists among the infiltrators.
Only through Fox News do we know that 92 percent of foreign nationals in federal prison are illegal immigrants.
Can you blame Trump from trying to stop the flow? They do.
They’d rather not recognize, as Trump does, that every crime is a double crime when committed by people who came here illegally.
Or questionably -- as through DACA (“Dreamers” dumped here as children), or chain migration.
MAGA, Make America Great Again, also means that once in a while we’d like to step into a cab where the driver speaks English…and doesn’t ask if you are Jewish, with a sneer, as happened to me the other day.
The media want us illiterate about that…and about the late-breaking news that Obama colluded with Iran so that no steps were taken to harness Hezbollah.
Yes, there is a Russia angle. The Soviet Union dissolved only after the people became better informed…largely through Samizdat…forbidden news shared under the table. We do that today through the Internet. (Read “The Bathsheba Deadline” thriller for all that and as your guide to the perplexed.)
Some 80 percent of us do not believe what we read in the papers or watch on television. Trump has it right. Fake News, styled to keep us in the dark.
