At least one person was killed and nine more injured after a van rammed a crowd of pedestrians near a mosque in London on Sunday night, reported The Independent.
The Sun reported that two people were killed in the incident, but that number has yet to be confirmed.
Witnesses said the vehicle veered off the road into worshippers leaving Finsbury Park Mosque shortly after midnight local time.
They said that the driver then got out of the van and stabbed at least one person.
Footage showed injured people motionless on the pavement as angry crowds surrounded a white man believed to be the driver.
The driver was arrested, and it remains unclear whether the collision was deliberate.
"Officers are on the scene with other emergency services," said a spokesman for the Metropolitan Police, adding, "There are a number of casualties being worked on at the scene. There has been one person arrested.”
Police did not confirm claims that Muslims leaving the mosque after Ramadan prayers were targeted.
The Muslim Council of Britain (MCB), however, said a van "intentionally" ran over worshippers, according to a BBC report.
The London Ambulance Service said it had sent a number of resources to the scene . While they did not say how many people were injured, a witnesses told Sky News that at least ten people were hit outside the mosque.
The incident comes just two weeks following a terrorist attack in London, in which three terrorists drove into passengers with a van on the London Bridge, then proceeded to stab people at the nearby Borough Market, where they were eliminated by security forces.
