One person was killed and 11 more injured in a vehicular accident in the Jordan Valley in eastern Israel Monday afternoon.

The accident occurred on Route 90 near the Israeli town of Petzael, when a tow truck driven by a Palestinian Authority resident collided with an Israeli passenger bus.

MDA emergency first responders were called to the scene to provide first aid and to evacuate the injured.

One person was declared dead at the scene by MDA paramedics. According to initial reports, the victim was the driver of the tow truck.

A passenger in the town truck was critically injured in the accident, and was evacuated by helicopter to a hospital.

Ten passengers from the bus suffered light injuries in the accident. MDA paramedics treated the injured passengers at the scene, then evacuated them to an area hospital.

Police say Route 90 remains closed to traffic following the accident, and drivers are advised to seek alternative routes.
