Over the past few days, United Hatzalah volunteers in Uman, Ukraine, have responded to more than 20 emergency calls due to cold weather and snow that has fallen in and around the city of Uman and the gravesite of Rebbe Nachman of Breslov. The EMS volunteers in the community provided quick and professional responses in spite of the harsh conditions and have helped treat people suffering from a variety of illnesses and injuries.

Yisroel Starick, Chapter Head of United Hatzalah in Uman said: "Many of the emergencies we've dealt with in the past few days have been broken limbs, injuries resulting from falls, and shortness of breath due to the cold weather and the snowfall."

"For any medical emergency in Uman or the surrounding vicinity, it is suggested to call our international dispatch center number at 063-800-1221, which is a local call for anyone in Ukraine. United Hatzalah's dispatch center in Israel will then dispatch local volunteer responders in Uman who are closest in proximity to the emergency.

"We strongly recommend that anyone coming to visit Uman, or any other graves of Tzaddikim in Ukraine, bring warm clothing and outerwear due to the intensely cold weather that the region is experiencing. It is also recommended to take all necessary precautions to avoid slipping on the ice that can result in painful injuries."
