The United States Space Command reported that a Chinese rocket weighing 23 tons crashed in the Indian Ocean near Malaysia.

China confirmed that the majority of the Long March 5 rocket burned up upon re-entering the atmosphere and no fragments of the missile caused damage to inhabited locations.
