The Guardian reported that the death toll in the earthquakes that struck parts of Turkey and Syria on Sunday has surpassed 21,000.

Rescue teams continue trying to uncover victims stuck beneath the rubble of fallen buildings.

The Israeli rescue team has thus far uncovered 18 victims and continues looking for others.
