Iran's Supreme Court sentenced Farajullah Shaev to death who was accused of being "the main person behind the terrorist attack on the military parade in Khuzestan province in the southwest of the country in September 2018". Shaev held Iranian and Swedish citizenship. The Swedish Foreign Minister, Tobias Billström, said that Iran denied his representatives consular access "despite repeated requests to meet Shaab". According to Iran, Saudi Arabia and Israel supported that attack, in which 25 people were killed and 70 were injured.
