About 3,200 signatures were collected on the petition to be submitted this coming Sunday to the Likud tribunal requesting the removal of Pinchas Idan from membership in the movement. Idan is the chairman of the Israel Airports trade union. Of the total number of signatories, there are about 2,000 Likud officials.
Diaspora Affairs Minister Amichai Shikli, who initiated the petition following the shutdown of airport this week in protest of the judicial reform proposals, said that "Pinchas Idan's way is the way of power and the committees, and it is not surprising that the first to stand by him were members of the Labor Party and opponents of the reform. The time has come to put in their place socialist businessmen for whom bullying is the way they do business, and to return the national-liberal movement to its original ideological path."
