At the 6th Leadership Conference of the Gush Etzion Council, Finance Minister and Minister in the Defense Ministry, Bezalel Smotrich, surprised those present and announced that the Mazmoria Checkpoint will be upgraded.

"We worked together with the Defense Minister and the people of his office and 160 million NIS will be transferred to improve several problematic crossings and Mazmoria is one of them. By the middle of next month, the checkpoint will be moved back and another position will be opened, and at the same time construction will begin which will take a year and a half," the minister said.

Head of the Gush Etzion Council and Chairman of the Yesha Council Shlomo Ne'eman responded: "After years of continuous efforts, we thank, first and foremost, Defense Minister Yoav Galant, who worked on this plan as well as Minister Bezalel Smotrich, who, during the 6th Leadership Conference of the Gush Etzion Council, announced to us the important improvement that will be made to our lives and that will advance settlement in the east of Gush Etzion."
