Fox News contributor Jesse Watters wants the public to remember that most of the Confederate war heroes were in fact, members of the Democratic Party. Today, that same Party is demanding that statues of Confederate leaders be removed. "Let's remember that all of these Confederate war heroes were Democrats," said Waters, "Maybe the Democratic Party wants us to take down these statues so we can forget that it was the Democrats who supported enslaving black people." "I think that many on the left want to destroy any historical monuments of great American leaders," Waters continued. "A bust of Abraham Lincoln in Chicago was torched. He was the one that freed the slaves." Cities all across the United States have been removing monuments of Confederate leaders, contending that these statues honor the institution of slavery and are offensive to African Americans. These efforts accelerated after a rally last Saturday in Charlottesville, Virginia protesting the removal of a statue of Confederate figure Robert E. Lee turned into a neo-Nazi rally . United States President Donald Trump pushed back against the efforts. “This week it's Robert E. Lee." he said. " I noticed that Stonewall Jackson is coming down. I wonder is it George Washington next week and is it Thomas Jefferson the week after? You know, you really do have to ask yourself, where does it stop?"
