The first phase of the hostage deal between Israel and Hamas, in which 50 hostages held in Gaza are expected to be released, will begin on Friday. At 7:00 a.m., a ceasefire went into effect, during which the IDF will refrain from attacking in the Gaza Strip. The ceasefire will last for four days. In the first batch on Friday, Hamas is expected to release 13 hostages, women and children. Hamas delivered the list of those to be released to the Qataris on Thursday, and they are expected to be released at around 4:00 p.m. at one of the two crossings - Rafah or Nitzana. The families of the hostages who will be released in the first batch were informed by phone about this on Thursday. At the request of the coordinator of the cross-governmental response to missing Israeli citizens, Brigadier General Gal Hirsch, their names will not be published in the media until they are returned to Israel. At the same time as the release of the first 13 hostages, Hamas is expected to hand over a second list of 12 hostages who will be released on Saturday. The spokesperson of Qatar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated on Thursday that, during the four days of the ceasefire, information will be collected about the remaining hostages in Gaza. The freed hostages will be transferred to representatives of the Red Cross, and then they will be transferred to representatives of the IDF. Upon receiving the hostages in the field, a quick medical examination will be done, and if any of them require urgent medical treatment, they will be flown to Soroka Hospital in Be'er Sheva. If not, they will be transferred by helicopter to one of the five hospitals which have been assigned to treat them, where they will be treated in an isolated complex. After the medical treatment and meeting with their families, the women will undergo a security interrogation. The children will not be questioned in the first stage.
