In Arab-Israeli wars, never assume that he who has a bigger army is the one actually winning the real war. There is no question that Israel has the bigger army in this war, but Hamas is winning. In close to two months of “calibrated” fighting, Israel is still helpless to stop Hamas from firing rockets, ceasefire or not. As for the Gaza PR war, the prime minister is too busy fighting with his ministers to realize Hamas has already won the world over by piling up bodies of dead Palestinian Arab children. On the Gaza battlefield, Israel has achieved few Hamas leadership kills, and instead has blown up a lot of buildings. On the UN battlefield, the EU and the US want to award a victory trophy for Hamas. For Hamas terrorists murdering 3 Jewish boys and firing thousands of rockets into Israel, the EU is not only ready to give Hamas an open sea-port, but also a United Nations Security Counsel resolution which directs Israel and the Palestinians to resume peace talks based of the 1949 Armistice lines, or the pre-1967 Green Line “guaranteed by Obama.” The EU and the US have just insured Hamas will fight to the last ounce of Palestinian Arab children's blood. The actual EU and US UNSC resolution draft text reads: [We call for] “renewed and urgent efforts by the parties and the international community to resume the negotiations in order to achieve a comprehensive peace based on the vision of two democratic States, Palestine and Israel, living side by side on the basis of the pre-1967 borders in peace and security.” There are, cleverly, several clauses that sound good: 1. The return of control of the Gaza Strip to the Palestinian Authority. 2. Security arrangements to prevent the resumption of hostilities. 3. The prohibition of the sale or supply of all weapons and munitions to the Gaza Strip, unless authorized by the PA. 4. A commitment to prevent the financing of terrorism. All of these provisions require someone to force Hamas to do something. But the question is who is going to enforce any of these provisions against Hamas? The EU, NATO? Who is going to disarm Hamas, Abbas? The answer is nobody. Who is going to wrest control of Gaza from Hamas and give it to Abbas? Who could keep Abbas in control in Gaza? Each of these provisions is more delusional than the next, and will never be implemented. But with the “peace talks” provision, only Israel has to be forced. Consequently, the only provision that will be forcibly implemented is pushing Israel into the peace talks “based on the pre-1967 borders.” Who came up with the idea that “Hamas in Gaza would be ‘demilitarized’ after the 2014 Gaza War” to begin with? Israel's prime minister.. And who for years publicized the ‘idea’ of a “demilitarized West Bank Palestinian state”? Israel's prime minister. Bibi first reincarnated the idea of a “demilitarized Gaza as a ‘prize’ of the Gaza War to Israe and the EU gave the real prize of a “demilitarized West Bank” State to Hamas. In conclusion, it seems the longer the war drags on, with "ceasefire" after "ceasefure", the bigger the prizes the EU and the US are showering on Hamas for killing Jews. Netanyahu’s strategy of negotiating with the Hamas terrorists has only legitimized the EU’s and the US’ negotiating with the very same Hamas terrorists. What’s kosher for Bibi is also kosher for EU and the US. And, the EU and the US have bigger prizes for Hamas than Bibi can ever offer: Like Israel itself. Israel has failed to control the tempo of the battle. Instead, “quiet-for-quiet” has insured Hamas, not Israel, controls the ending of the war. And, by ceding Hamas that “ending-of-war” control, and a feeling of victory, Israel's government has given Hamas the keys to the kingdom and to the 'West Bank'. The prime minister had better find a way to pull a rabbit out of the proverbial hat, or Israel will have in effect lost the Gaza War of 2014, and badly.
