It is that time of the year again, when the media has a field day over the memorials for the late Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin. It is unacceptable to take anyone's life, whether he be prime minister or a simple person. It is also unthinkable to It is also unthinkable to use this tragedy in order to promote political directions. use this tragedy in order to promote political directions, especially under the circumstances of the Oslo Agreements which were implemented by the late Rabin. Using the worn out and pathetic slogan of the "Rabin legacy," the media annually uses this occasion in order to promote a political program: one that has proven to all to be the cause of great misery and countless murders of innocent Israeli civilians and brave Israeli soldiers. I serve as an emergency medic and have been trained to recognize the futility of continuing life-support after the heart stops for a certain amount of time and the brain does not receive oxygen. The Oslo Accord has long stopped breathing and it does not take a registered physician in order to mark the time of the death, as it does tragically when we lose a precious life. This process is being held on life support for all of the wrong reasons. I remember the late Rabin declaring that "if the Palestinian Authority would dare to use the weapons handed them, to prevent terror, against Israeli citizens, we would go in and take them away." I am unable to guess what Rabin would have done under the realities of the continuous terror directed against Israeli civilians and soldiers by those same Palestinian Authority armed soldiers, Hamas, etc. I do know that the time has come to have honest politicians who truly care about the future of this country. They will finally implement policies that provide security, safety and, at the same time, teach those who have been taking advantage of the corruption, weakness and irresponsibility of countless politicians who have continued to implement, and even expand, the Oslo Accords, despite the proof of the failure of this plan. It is time for us to stand up and declare that this is immoral and illegal. The timing of the government's decsion to use the IDF to brutally destroy Jewish homes in Judea and Samaria is all a part of the same continuous attempt to use the tragic murder of a Prime Minister in order to delegitimize the Jewish pioneers living in these vital areas. Ironically, it is the courts and government officials who do not use the same determination in the destruction of the houses of terrorists who have murdered innocent people. Is this also part of the Rabin Legacy? I think not, and it is time for us to stand up and declare that this is immoral and illegal. I do not expect the media to give us backing on this, but I do demand that we be heard and that the truth gets out. The Oslo Process is a deadly, tragic mistake and cannot be given life support because of the posturing of politicians in the name of the late Rabin. It is time for all of us to publicly declare that Oslo is dead; and for the governments of Israel to stop the capitulation to terrorist demands because of a paper signed by Rabin, who believed in giving this agreement a try but who promised to stop the process if the other side would take advantage of the situation and use the guns against us. It is time to stop life support, because Oslo is long deceased.
