Border police foiled a stabbing attack in the city of Hevron on Monday, stopping an Arab man as he attempted to enter the Tomb of the Patriarchs ( Maarat HaMachpelah ) courtyard with a long knife. The man was arrested and taken to security services for questioning. A second attack was foiled in the evening, when IDF reservists manning a checkpoint southeast of Jenin stopped an Arab man and discovered he was carrying a bomb. The would-be attacker was arrested and the bomb was neutralized by sappers. At the Tzufim checkpoint near Kalkilya, soldiers found a dagger, army boots and military documents when searching an Arab man's car. The documents were sent to police and the Arab driver was arrested. In the afternoon, an Israeli man was lightly wounded in a rock attack near the town of Oferim in western Binyamin. His car was damaged as well. The man received medical care at the scene of the attack and was not hospitalized. Other rock attacks were reported on the highway between Hevron and Gush Etzion, on the trans-Samaria Highway, and next to the town of Karnei Shomron. The attacks caused damage but no injuries. A terrorist threw a firebomb at soldiers on Monday evening near the town of Adoraim in the Hevron Hills. The soldiers were not hurt. Soldiers carried out searches and arrests in the Bethlehem area and in the village of Na'alin on Sunday night, following several attacks on civilians and security personnel in those areas. Six suspects were arrested in Na'alin and a total of 12 were arrested in Bethlehem and surrounding villages. During arrest operations soldiers found stockpiles of rocks and firebombs, indicating that future attacks were planned. Terrorists in Gaza fired at least three rockets at Israeli towns in the western Negev over the course of the day. The rockets landed in open areas and no injuries were reported.
