Bishop Richard Williamson, who made headlines recently for his statements denying the Holocaust, has been ordered to leave Argentina within 10 days. The bishop failed to declare a change of jobs on his immigration forms, officials said. However, officials noted that his statements regarding the Holocaust played a major role in the decision to expel him from the country. Williamson's views on the Holocaust “profoundly insult Argentine society, the Jewish community and all of humanity by denying an historic truth,” Argentine officials explained. Argentine Jewish leaders expressed satisfaction with the decision to expel Williamson. It is not currently clear where the bishop intends to go. Williamson and two other bishops were reinstated by Pope Benedict XVI in January. However, after discovering Williamson's Holocaust views, Pope Benedict demanded that he publicly and unequivocally recant his statements prior to rejoining the church. Pope Benedict also issued one of the church's more powerful statements condemning the Holocaust, calling it “a crime against G-d and against humanity,” and saying the Catholic church was “profoundly and irrevocably committed to reject all anti-Semitism.” Williamson: Holocaust? 'Lies, lies, lies.' In a January interview with a Swedish television station, Williamson claimed that no Jews were killed with poison gas during the Holocaust, and that a total of 200,000-300,000 Jews were murdered, and not six million. Williamson is also on record as questioning the Holocaust earlier in his career, when he served as a rector in the United States. The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) quotes him as saying, “There was not one Jew killed in the gas chambers. It was all lies, lies, lies.” Other statements from Williamson, as reported by the ADL: “In the Catholic Middle Ages the Jews were relatively impotent to harm Christendom, but as Catholics have grown over the centuries since then weaker and weaker in the faith... so the Jews have come closer and closer to fulfilling their substitute-Messianic drive towards world domination.” "Each time the United States attempts to act even-handedly towards the Arabs, Jewish power inside the United States – e.g. virtual control of finance and the media – blocks the attempt, and the United States returns to oppressing the Arabs.” “...the Jews created the Holocaust so we would prostrate ourselves on our knees before them and approve of their new State of Israel.” Williamson has also attributed the outbreaks of World Wars I and II, the assassination of U.S. President John F. Kennedy, Iraq's 1990 invasion of Kuwait, the 1994 Oklahoma City bombing and the September 11, 2001 attack on the World Trade Center to “the would-be architects of the New World Order.”
