As the world focuses on Israel's efforts to free kidnapped soldier Gilad Shalit, another recipient of international efforts to secure his freedom has something to say about it.
Jonathan Pollard, who has served 25 years in a US prison for passing classified information to Israel, reportedly said that he "boils" with anger at the prospect of Israel releasing 980 convicted Arab terrorists in exchange for Shalit, who was captured by Hamas in June 2006.
In an interview with The Jerusalem Post, Pollard called the deal "a horrible chilul Hashem [desecration of G-d's name]" and proposed that instead of giving terrorists freedom to obtain Shalit, Netanyahu "take the list of prisoners Hamas requested and kill one of them every day until they release Gilad from prison."
When a political deal was once proposed to release convicted murderer and PA politician Marwan Barghouti from Israeli jail in exchange for his release, Pollard said he "completely opposed" the idea, rejecting the notion of gaining his freedom at the price of releasing murderers and terrorists into society.
Pollard was recently visited by the sixth time by Likud party member and noted activist Moshe Feiglin, who reported that Pollard's health is deteriorating. Feiglin also said Pollard continues to feel betrayed by Israel.
