The people who are hospitalized in the Soroka Hospital in Be’er Sheva after being wounded in the rocket attacks over the weekend received a surprise visit on Sunday from none other than American actor Jon Voight.

Israel’s Channel 2 News reported that Voight came to the hospital to express his support for Israel and to strengthen those who were wounded.

“I am here to express my love and my loyalty to Israel,” Voight told Channel 2, emphasizing that he sees in his presence in Israel a mission, and that part of his job is to prevent the misperception of Israel in other countries.

“I’m here to fight the propaganda and lies distributed against Israel,” he said, adding, “Chabad has given me the opportunity to visit the wounded and I was glad to come.”

Voight, an ardent supporter of Israel, visited the country in January along with Republican politician Mike Huckabee.

During that visit Voight said that Jonathan Pollard did not have a fair trial due in part to anti-Semitism. He revealed the secret conversation between Pollard and his father that could have changed everything.

In the past, Voight authored a scathing open letter to U.S. President Barack Obama, accusing him of “putting Israel in harm’s way.”
