MK Michael Ben-Ari (National Union) responded Saturday to Intelligence Minister Dan Meridor's threat to resign if recent judicial reform bills pass saying Meridor belonged in the radical leftist Meretz party.

"We always knew Meridor belonged in Meretz along with Zahava Gal On and Nitzan Horowitz," Ben Ari said. "Meridor was a part of the legal junta alongside Dorit Benisch that enacted the antidemocratic disqualification of Rabbi Meir Kahane for the Knesset."

"We have not forgotten how, all these years, he has been a lawmaker and minister with the Likud, but advocated left-wing positions," Ben Ari added.

According to Ben Ari, Meridor and a few other leftist "infiltrators" in the Likud represent "stolen votes."

"These people, like Meridor, Eitan and Benny Begin, were given their seats by a nationalist public that now asks the Supreme Court be forced to act more objectively," Ben Ari said.

"The expectation is that these ministers will work for the integrity of the country," Ben Ari said. "And yet they allow themselves to do the opposite."

Ben Ari also implored Meridor to take ministers Begin and Eitan with him should he depart.

MK Danny Danon (Likud) who has sponsored several of the judicial reform bills Meridor is against also invited him to leave the government - and the Likud.

"Minister Meridor, the door is open," Danon said.
