The Jerusalem Light Rail was attacked by Arabs hurling rocks at the cars as they passed by on Monday afternoon. None of the passengers were injured, but the attackers damaged one of the cars. One Arab youth has been arrested on suspicion of being connected with the attack, and the investigation is continuing, police said. This is not the first time there has been an attack on the light rail as it has passed through an Arab neighborhood in the nation's capital. Arabs in the Shuafat neighborhood hurled rocks at the new train on the day before the start of the Jewish holiday of Sukkot in October. Designed to give residents and tourists an easier, more pleasant ride from one end of the city to the other, the new train has been the target of repeated attacks by some disgruntled Arabs who are angry at the inclusion of their neighborhood on the route.
