Global technology giant Apple Inc. is set to open its third research and development center in Israel. The new center will open later this year in Raanana's industrial zone, the Israeli business daily Globes reported. An exact date has not yet been determined. The company will bring aboard some 150 employees from Texas Instruments, whose Israel branch suffered major layoffs over the last year. According to the website Next Web, Intel was offering "healthy compensation packages" to attract engineers, threatening Apple's plan for the new site. The Raanana brach will be Apple’s third research and development center in Israel, as it already operates centers in both Haifa and Herzaliya.
