A week-long vigil in front of the Prime Minister's Residence in Jerusalem, calling for Israeli sovereignty over Judea and Samaria, wound to a close on Sunday. Dozens of mothers were present at the vigil tent from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily in a strong showing of support.

Nadia Matar, co-director of Women in Green which organized the event, spoke to Arutz Sheva last Thursday from the vigil tent, where she emphasized the rally's message to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu.

"We know there is a lot of international pressure and from the left against you," said Matar to Netanyahu, "but we are here to remind you that the land of Israel belongs to the people of Israel, and there exists a plan that you should implement: the application of Israeli sovereignty over Judea and Samaria."

The vigil, which was entitled "Mothers say YES to the application of Israeli sovereignty over Judea, Samaria and the Jordan Valley," was organized by Women in Green, together with Professors for a Strong Israeland Mattot Arim.

In addition to the many MKs, rabbis and other public figures who showed up to express support for the vigil, Matar noted that on Wednesday a special guest arrived at the tent - a bride, Efrat Leshem, who showed up on her wedding day.

Matar recounts that Leshem said at the vigil "before I build my private home, I must also do something for my nation and for my land."

Summarising the reason why so many mothers came out to support the event, Matar stated "in the same way a mother would never give up on a child, that is the same way we the people of Israel will not give up on the land of Israel."
