Justice Minister Tzippy Livni, who is in charge of Israel's negotiation team in talks with the Palestinian Authority, is not an effective negotiator – and in fact has conceded point after point to the PA, said MK Danny Danon. “For nine months of negotiations, the Palestinians have had Livni wrapped around their finger,” said Danon. “The only they want is to get terrorists out of Israeli prisons.” After that, he said, they would end the negotiations, leaving Israel holding the bag - and the blame. On Sunday, PA chief Mahmoud Abbas reiterated his demand Israel release arch terrorists and freeze construction in Judea and Samaria in return for Abbas agreeing to extend peace talks, the Al-Hayat newspaper reported. Abbas reportedly made these demands during his meeting with United States President Barack Obama in Washington on Monday. Speaking last week, Chief PA negotiator Saeb Erekat said that he was pressuring Chairman Mahmoud Abbas to leave the ongoing negotiations process with Israel. Erekat stressed in an IDF Radio interview that Abbas could leave the negotiating table - but that he is waiting for Israel to release more Palestinian Arab terrorists first. "We put pressure on him to leave and he said, 'I will not do that until Israel finishes releasing prisoners for the fourth time, at the end of March," Erekat stated. Danon said that Israel should not fall into Abbas' trap. “The government needs to reconsider its position on the release of terrorists,” Danon said. “Right now, it is clear that the negotiations are not going anywhere.”
