Yesh Atid chairperson Yair Lapid launched a vitriolic attack against Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu Monday, amid predictions of an Iran nuclear deal being reached later the same day.

In an interview with Army Radio, Lapid said, "the deal is indeed terrible and awful. If there is a failure - there is someone responsible for the failure: you can't go around all day and say that he will prevent a nuclear deal with Iran - and then when it happens say that he isn't guilty and that it isn't a matter of his responsibility."

Netanyahu has repeatedly opposed the deal with Iran, but apparently Lapid would still blame him for being responsible for whatever agreement is reached between Iran and P5+1 world powers, comprised of the US, UK, France, Germany, Russia and China.

"They refused to listen because Netanyahu has made Israel's relations with the world and the United States worse," Lapid explained, apparently indicating that Netanyahu's sharp opposition to the deal had somehow motivated world powers to reach a deal with Iran.

Israel is following the Iran nuclear negotiations with concern as America appears to be conceding on Iranian demands at each step of the way.

Israeli leaders warn the deal will allow Iran to continue pursuing a nuclear arsenal, with its secret nuclear facilities out of bounds for inspections and its ICBM (intercontinental ballistic missile) program not addressed by the talks. Likewise a release of sanctions with the sealing of a deal will see a huge influx of funds to the coffers of the leading state sponsor of terror.

If a deal is reached, as sources indicate may happen on Monday, Congress will have 60 days to review the deal and sign off on it, during which time sanctions will remain in place.

Netanyahu is expected to visit the US and drum up opposition to the deal during that period.
