Twenty-five of the families who were evicted more than a year ago from the community of Amona in the Binyamin region will move on Sunday to the new community “Amichai,” built for them. Next week the families will celebrate Passover there. Another 15 families will join after the holiday. In the meantime, the families are working to transfer their possessions from the Ofra girls’ school dormitory where they have lived under crowded conditions for the past year - to Amichai. Amichai is already connected to water and sewage infrastructures, but as of now, the Electricity Authority has not connected the community to an electricity supply, something which, if not corrected, may delay residents from entering their homes and prevent them from holding the Passover holiday in the new community. "We have mixed feelings,” Amona representative Avichai Buaron told Arutz Sheva . “On the one hand, we are leaving Amona behind us, and on the other hand there is joy mixed with a tinge of sadness over the difficult road we have traveled in recent years, a rollercoaster ride with a lot of uncertainty." "We went through an arduous period and, symbolically, on the eve of Passover we enter the new community and our new homes and feel an exodus to true freedom," Buaron said. The Electricity Authority stated: "The planning and execution work of the Electricity Authority has been completed. The community has not yet completed the planning of the private network. Upon completion of the work by the community and receipt of the approval from the Civil Administration in Judea and Samaria, the Electricity Authority will be happy to connect the community to electricity.
