North Korean leader Kim Jong Un said during his summit with South Korean President Moon Jae-last week in that he would close the country’s nuclear test site in May, Moon’s office said on Sunday, according to Reuters . The planned move will be in full view of the outside world, Seoul said. Kim and Moon held a historic meeting in the Demilitarized Zone between the two countries on Thursday. North Korea’s state media said ahead of the summit that Pyongyang would immediately suspend nuclear and missile tests , scrap its nuclear test site and instead pursue economic growth and peace. Confirming the report, Kim told Moon that he would invite experts and journalists from the United States and South Korea to ensure “transparency” of the dismantling of the facilities, said Moon’s office, according to Reuters . The report came hours after U.S. President Donald Trump said his meeting with Kim could take place within three or four weeks. Administration officials said last week that Trump will urge North Korea to act quickly to dismantle its nuclear arsenal when he meets Kim and is not willing to grant Pyongyang substantial sanctions relief in return for a freeze of its nuclear and missile tests.
