Carmel Medical Center in Haifa is experimenting with using GPS navigation to help patients and visitors find hospital floors and rooms. Global Positioning System software is usually used for drivers to find correct streets. However Carmel is one of the few hospitals in the world to launch a new navigation system for inside hospital buildings. In tests conducted in hospitals around the world, it was found that 25% of visitors become confused and lost, especially in large medical campuses, despite signage.
