A 28 year-old haredi man has been arrested on suspicion of beating his 6 month-old daughter.
The suspect is thought to have struck her on her face, leaving her bruised on the cheek and eye. The baby is categorized as "lightly injured."
In the middle of the night, a woman, a resident of Yavne, arrived at Tel Hashomer Hospital with her baby girl.
When a concern arose that the child was beaten, a police interrogator was called to the scene.
After the mother attempted to hide the matter by claiming it was an allergy, or that the baby had caused the bruises herself, the police suspected the father, 28, had hit the infant when she cried in the night.
The suspect will be brought this morning to the Rishon Letzion Magistrate's Court to extend his arrest.
