After two people claimed they heard shots fired at New York City's John F. Kennedy Airport Sunday night, police gave the all-clear, reporting their was no evidence gunfire actually took place. Police had been called to the airport at 9:37 p.m. local time Sunday evening. Terminal 8 was evacuated and passengers were told to take cover outside cement traffic barriers, according to The New York Post . In addition, some flights were diverted to airports nearby, according to Sky News . Passengers fled the terminal, leaving behind hundreds of suitcases and bags. Following the incident, NYPD officials suggested the panic may have been sparked by fraudulent 911 calls, CNN reported.
