As part of the IDF's national assistance efforts in dealing with the coronavirus, IDF units are making great efforts to develop applicable and advanced solutions to assist the civilian population. The Shayetet 13 Naval commando unit has expertise in diving with oxygen tanks and oxygen gas compression capability for independent tanks. Over the past few weeks, crews from the unit have used that expertise to develop a solution to alleviate the distress of the population forced to use assisted breathing apparatuses during the coronavirus crisis. The unit's development teams have converted the operational production line into a medical oxygen compression system production line that meets health standards and the needs of the population, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, Yad Sarah, and other organizations. Apart from the development and supply, it provides logistical response and assists in transporting the oxygen tanks as needed, including to patients' residences. In addition, through knowledge sharing with foreign armies, it seems possible to take the new model developed by the unit which deals with the difficulty of compressing oxygen and the load in its distribution and implement it in various ways to assist in the civilian aid effort. The development was passed through video and training manuals to foreign armies.
