For the first time since the Cold War, the German government has launched a “civil defense” plan to cope with potential emergencies related to terrorism.

According to the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, the document responds to questions such as: “How do you protect yourself from attacks with biological or chemical weapons? To where can the government flee if there is an attack?”.

The last German civilian defense plan had been drafted in 1989, before the fall of Berlin Wall and when NATO steeled itself for a possible war with the Soviet Union, recalls the Faz.

There is only another democracy that has experienced this type of siege by terror and already responded to those same questions: the State of Israel.

In 1973, during the Yom Kippur war, Israeli department stores were the scene of an assault by multitudes of housewives looking for canned foods, mineral water and candles. In 1991, the same scene. Even then there was the threat of a chemical or biological attack, because the smallpox and anthrax missiles were a reality in Saddam Hussein’s Iraq. Then came the pre-nuclear anxiety during 2011-2012, when Israel was on the verge of unilaterally disarming the atomic reactors in Tehran.

After having demonized Israel and excluded her from the Western family of nations, now Europe tastes what the Israelis have experienced in the last 70 years.

A truck driver murdering civilians in Nice? It has already happened in Jerusalem many times. An axe attack on a German train? It has already happened in Jerusalem many times. A massacre in Paris’ restaurants? It has already happened in Haifa and Tel Aviv many times. An attack at Brussels’ airport? It has already happened at the Ben Gurion international airport.

The Jewish State has experienced the entire range of terrorist atrocities Europe has lived through in the last couple of years.

In 2013, France launched a military operation in Mali and Monsieur Hollande said that “you can not have a terrorist state on Europe’s doorstep.” Distance between Bamako and Paris? 6,266 km. When Israel defends itself from Hamas’ missiles, Europe rallies against the “Israeli aggression”. Distance between Gaza and Israel? 1 kilometer.

Let’s stop this shameful hypocrisy. Islamic terrorism does not distinguish between a train in Würzburg and a tram in Jerusalem. Would not it better for Europe to consider the small Israeli garrison as a part of herself?

Israel’s security is the security of 500 million Europeans. The defense of Israel must be proclaimed. We should be proud to say we are all Jews, we are all Israel.
