MK Nissim Vaturi (Likud) hinted on Sunday that the establishment of the "Or Chaim" outpost in Samaria was not the right step to be taken when a campaign is underway to lead to the eviction of the illegal Bedouin outpost of Khan al-Ahmar.
"We need to invest the effort in dismantling Khan al-Ahmar, so if we build something that is illegal - that's a problem," Vaturi said in a conversation with Israel National News.
"If the law is observed - it should also be done in an equal manner - for the Arabs and the Jews. That is why we should go for the demolition of Khan al-Ahmar," he added.
The comments come after the outpost, named after the late Rabbi Chaim Druckman, was demolished on Friday on the orders of Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, who overruled Minister in the Defense Minister Bezalel Smotrich, who was given broad authority over settlement affairs and who ordered the Civil Administration not to take action regarding the outpost until a formal hearing was held.
Vaturi also commented on the step taken by the ministers of the Religious Zionist Party, who boycotted Sunday’s cabinet meeting following the evacuation. "I think everything needs to be agreed upon within the government - it is important for all parties to maintain the coalition."
"It is not certain that there will be another opportunity for such a government, so everything should be done in cooperation," he concluded.
