Former Israel Police Commissioner Moshe Karadi on Saturday attacked National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir, after he announced that he had directed the police to prepare for an “Operation Defensive Shield 2” in eastern Jerusalem.

"Ben Gvir is a pyromaniac with a tank of gas and he scatters statements that have no feasibility," Karadi said, adding, "Netanyahu should not be forced to act as the kindergarten teacher, this child simply should not be in the kindergarten."

"Ben Gvir does not understand this, because he has never in his life been even the commander of half a small squad and did not wear a uniform," added the former commissioner. "He received a position that is ten times bigger than him."

The former commissioner added that "he comes to a sidewalk and, using populism, announces a ‘Defensive Shield 2’ and he also says that it will be in Issawiya and on Sunday. Do you see a situation where the IDF gives such a warning to the enemy? I don't remember the Minister of Defense informing Hamas that on Wednesday they are entering a neighborhood in Gaza. This can only be done by someone who does not understand anything about the police."

"If he's really serious, why does he have to announce it on the sidewalk in the middle of the day?" Karadi wondered. "This is populism that is not serious. There is a month's worth of work to do before even entering into such an operation, and we do it in private rooms and not like this."
