A Border Police officer on Monday morning suffered serious injuries in a stabbing attack in Jerusalem. The stabbing attack took place near the Shivtei Yisrael light rail station in central Jerusalem. The stop is a dividng line between an Arab neighborhood to the east and Orthodox Jewish neigborhoods to the west. The officer, aged approximately 40, suffered serious injuries and was evacuated to a local hospital. Police and Border Police officers arrived at the scene of the attack. According to the hospital, the victim arrived in stable but serious condition, with wounds to his upper body. Following an initial examination, he was brought for imaging tests and continued care. The terrorist was neutralized shortly after carrying out the attack. According to reports, he is a resident of one of Jerusalem's Arab neighborhoods. "The forces began a pursuit after the suspect, and neutralized him." There is still a large number of police officers at the scene. Pinchas Butz and Eli Avraham, United Hatzalah paramedics, said, "When we arrived at the scene, we found a person who suffered a stab wound to his upper body. We provided him with initial medical aid at the scene, and afterwards evacuated him in a police ambulance to Hadassah Mount Scopus Medical Center, in serious condition." Following the terror attack, light rail operations were temporarily suspended between the stations of Givat Hamivtar and Sha'ar Shechem.
