Dear American Jews…what will it take to persuade you that you belong to the wrong political party? Climate change? This they worry about, your Democrats, and as for you, the descendants of Moses and Einstein, have you noticed the climate change in Monsey, and around the rest of New York? How many more attacks will it take to convince you that as for climate, the weather is for later. The anti-Semitism, that climate is now. Your fellow Jews are being maimed and murdered by people from your side of the tracks, and they are not white supremacists. Have you listened to Ilhan Omar lately? Rashida Tlaib? They are the climate. Nationwide, 2019, 1,347 attempts against Jews. Listen to Rabbi YY Jacobson. Listen to former NYS Assemblyman Dov Hikind. Jews have won more than 130 Nobel Prizes. So you can’t be so blind as to tag along with Minister Farrakhan…like sheep. Al Sharpton is not your friend. When does your famed sense of scientific awareness kick in? Dear Ilhan Omar…what are you doing in my country? Dear Rashida Tlaib…what are you doing to my country? Dear Fox News …no one spread the poison as widely nor as thickly as Tlaib and Omar, and yet your 6 pm reporter let them get away the single most atrocious act of cynicism of the year -- blaming President Trump for the wave of anti-Semitism. Are your editors and fact-checkers still on vacation? Please, you’re all we’ve got…and thank goodness for Mark Steyn later on. Dear Nancy Pelosi…so kind of you to offer your sympathy to the Jews of Monsey. Why is it that I believe not a word you say? Dear Mayor De Blasio…please don’t insult my intelligence. I didn’t just get off the boat like the thousands you’re bringing in from who knows where. “Atmosphere of hate,” you say pertaining to Monsey and the other attacks in and around New York City. No, never mind the atmosphere, as if something so vague is to blame. This is entirely specific. This is about men and women of color knifing and shooting Jews. The fancy talk works dandy among members of your own party, but on the streets, it’s getting to be Kristallnacht. Kristallnacht is the climate. Nor is it a “race-hate” crisis, as you now say. What hate? What race? We don’t hate. The Jews are the targets in all this. Did you read my column, “They shoot Jews, don’t they.” I think you should. On this day, I received a letter from a woman who read it and worked for years as a hospital medical assistant in NYC, serving African American patients, mostly. Harlem. She grew to love them, and they loved her. That was some time ago. What happened? Earlier, thousands of Jews marched with MLK. Two New Yorkers, Andrew Goodman and Michael Schwerner were murdered fighting for Civil Rights; Neshoba County, Mississippi. That was the Freedom Summer of 1964. We thought things would turn out better. It’s all in this historical novel. “Perplexed and acutely disappointed,” concludes my letter correspondent. A generation ago, I explained, the Jews of Europe also trusted their neighbors…until their neighbors turned on them. The Jews became aware of the climate, and how quickly it changed, but only when it was too late. Dear Bernie Sanders…you say it’s time to fight anti-Semitism “together.” Together with whom? Your sweetheart Linda Sarsour? It was Sarsour and her Women’s March, and BDS, that played a big part in getting the climate to change in America. You are on the wrong side of history. Communists usually are, Bernie. Candace Owens is more my type, and it is that ray of sunshine who may yet save the day for her generation. I choose to believe. Though not today. Dear Nancy Pelosi…so kind of you to offer your sympathy to the Jews of Monsey. Why is it that I believe not a word you say? For three years now, you have been impeaching President Trump for no good reason, except to create a climate of division and animosity throughout the land. Trump and only Trump signed an executive order to thwart anti-Semitism on campus. Where’s your side of the aisle? Dear Jews of America…history is repeating itself right before your very eyes. Have you learned nothing? New York-based bestselling American novelist Jack Engelhard writes regularly for Arutz Sheva. He wrote the worldwide book-to-movie bestseller “Indecent Proposal,” and the authoritative newsroom epic, “The Bathsheba Deadline,” followed by his coming-of-age classics, “The Girls of Cincinnati,” and, the Holocaust-to-Montreal memoir , “Escape from Mount Moriah,” for which contemporaries have hailed him “The last Hemingway, a writer without peer, and the conscience of us all.” Website
