An Italian court has released from custody the three suspects arrested following the cable car disaster. One of the suspects was sent to house arrest. Italian media reported that the judge ruled that there was no reason to keep the three in custody because they could not escape and there was no danger that they would tamper with the evidence. Kan News reported that the district where the disaster occurred announced a day of mourning to be held today, during which a minute of silence will be marked at 12:00 pm (Italy time). Governor Alberto Cirio issued an order that Italian flags, provincial flags and EU flags are to be lowered to half-mast on government buildings. The newspaper La Republica reported over the weekend that employees of the cable car site knew that the car's brake system had been locked since April 26, but did not report it.
