The funeral of Sergeant First Class (res.) Yedidya Eliyahu of Karnei Shomron took place Saturday night.
Eliyahu, 25, fought in the Combat Engineering Corps' Battalion 8170 and fell in battle in Gaza.
Yigal Lahav, Karnei Shomron Council head, wrote, "With a heavy heart, we accompanied an IDF representative to his wife Meitar to receive the bitter news regarding the death in battle of Yedidya Eliyahu, father of two amazing little girls. Yedidya was a resident of the Ramat Gilad neighborhood for the past six months."
"The son of Rabbi Yoram Eliyahu from Jerusalem's Kiryat Moshe neighborhood, he studied in the hesder yeshiva in Tzfat, and was called to reserve duty on the first day of the war. He was a man of spirit, who loved the Torah and loved his work," Lahav added.
"We embrace the soldiers and the extended Eliyahu family. 'Sing out praise, O you nations, for His people! For He will avenge the blood of His servants, inflict revenge upon His adversaries, and appease His land [and] His people. (Deuteronomy 32:43)' May we hear good news, salvation, and comfort, soon."

Parallel to this, the IDF announced the death of Staff Sergeant Yam Glass, age 20 from Modi'in-Maccabim-Reut. Glass was a lookout who served in Battalion 414 and fell in battle on Simchat Torah, October 7 - the first day of the war.
Modi'in-Maccabim-Reut Council head Haim Bibas wrote, "After a month of uncertainty, today we received, with great pain, the news of the death of Staff Sergeant Yam Glass."
"She fell on October 7, 2023, in battles in Gaza. In my name and in the name of all the residents of Modi'in-Maccabim-Reut, from the depths of my heart I share the deep sorrow of the family."
