SUICIDE BOMBING ATTACK At about 10:25pm, a suicide bomber detonated an extremely powerful explosive device at the entrance to the Moment Caf? located at the intersection of Aza Street and Ben-Maimon Boulevard in Jerusalem’s plush Rechavia neighborhood. The site of the attack is about one block from the Kings Hotel and less than 100 meters (yards) from the Prime Minister’s Residence. Prime Minister Ariel Sharon was not in his residence at the time of the blast. He is spending the night in his Shikmim Farm in the Negev. The wounded in the blast were transported to the Shaare Zedek Medical Center, Hadassah Hospitals in Ein Kerem and Mount Scopus, and Bikur Cholim Hospital. Some of the victims are fighting for their lives as doctors continue struggling to save them, with at least seven listed in life-threatening condition. 70 AMBULANCES INVOLVED IN EVACUATING THE WOUNDED 70 ambulances were dispatched to the scenes of the attacks to evacuate the dead and wounded from the scene. Magen David Adom Director-General Avi Zohar reports that 500 units of blood were distributed to hospitals treating the wounded of the attacks. He added that MDA remains on alert in light of the increase in attacks and is capable of dispatching 700 ambulances nationwide if necessary. MDA today employs close to 1,400 persons, and receives about 1,300 calls for assistance daily. Zohar adds that in major cities such as Jerusalem and the Gush Dan areas, MDA is capable of dispatching tens of ambulances to a terror scene or the like within minutes without pulling vehicles from other areas, adding that regular calls for emergency medical assistance are not ignored during attacks such as seen on Saturday night. The service relies heavily on the many volunteers who give generously of their time, with many on call round-the-clock. HOSPITAL HOTLINE NUMBERS I - NETANYA ATTACK A. Laniado Hospital – 12-55-191 B.
