Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah on Friday directly linked his group’s military campaign to the “Palestinian cause”, the Now Lebanon news website reported. In remarks in honor of the Iranian Quds Day, Nasrallah also claimed that all opponents of Iran oppose “Palestine” as well. “The road to Jerusalem passes through Qalamoun, Daraa, Hasakeh and other [Syrian battlefields],” he declared. Nasrallah’s comments come as Hezbollah fighters continue to engage in fierce fighting in the Syrian border town of Zabadani , where Hezbollah and Syrian regime troops have suffered mounting losses. The Hezbollah chief also trumpeted Iran’s role in the region, saying that the Islamic Republic was the only state that posed an existential threat to Israel. “After God, Iran is the only remaining hope to free Palestine,” Nasrallah declared, according to Now Lebanon , admitting that while his group poses a strategic threat to Israel, it could not destroy it. “If you are an enemy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, then you are an enemy of Palestine,” he stated. Nasrallah has continuously threatened Israel. Only a month ago he threatened that his group would displace "millions" in Israel if the Jewish state attacks Lebanon. His threat came in a televised address weeks after an Israeli army official warned that Israel would "have to" target civilian areas in Lebanon in a future confrontation with Hezbollah. Even though he has continued to threaten Israel, Nasrallah has admitted in the past that his terrorist group is incapable of defeating Israel on its own. In a recent interview with Syrian state TV Nasrallah explained that despite boasts by himself and other Hezbollah leaders about the group's capabilities, it is incapable of mounting a war against Israel independently.
