Palestinian Arabs in Gaza on Saturday started receiving Qatari aid payments of $100, an AFP correspondent said. The Hamas “communications ministry” had said on Friday that it had received $30 million in aid from Qatar. A third of the amount would be distributed to 100,000 needy families, it added. Hundreds of Palestinian Arabs queued up at post offices in Gaza on Saturday morning to receive the $100 allocated per family, an AFP correspondent said. Israel has previously allowed several installments of $15 million in Qatari money to enter Gaza. Following criticism over the Qatari money going to Hamas, the Qatari envoy announced his country will no longer fund salaries of Hamas employees in Gaza and would instead donate the remaining $60 million in aid mostly through United Nations programs.
