A letter was sent today, Sunday, to the Minister of Health Yuli Edelstein and Minister of Culture and Sports Hili Tropper with a request to allow a higher fan capacity at Israeli Premier League football and basketball games. As of March, only 1500 fans are currently allowed at each game.
The letter, written by the chairpersons of both leagues, states that due to the sufficient guidelines being observed upon entering the stadiums as well as the progress made in return to national routine, it is now appropriate to open the sports venues to all vaccinated and COVID-19 recovered fans.
"As we approach the playoff stages in the football and basketball leagues we ask that an immediate decision is made by the government cabinet to remove the number restrictions and allow hundreds of thousand of vaccinated and recovering fans to enter the stadiums and arenas, while we continue to follow the various restrictions closely for the sake of general public health".
