The chairman of World Likud and former Israeli ambassador to the UN, Danny Danon, revealed on Sunday evening that Prime Minister Yair Lapid plans to meet with Palestinian Authority chairman Mahmoud Abbas before the election. The meeting, Danon claimed, is the reason behind Israel's recent series of gestures toward the Palestinian Arabs. "According to information I received from the United States, Lapid is seeking a meeting with Abbas. He is willing to pay in other gestures to get this photo opportunity. He wants to show that he is a 'super statesman' - even though he is a failed statesman. He has no mandate to do so," he said. Danon’s attack on Lapid followed a statement by a top adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who said that Iran is already capable of producing a nuclear bomb. Danon stated that the Iranian arrogance stems from Lapid's failure to get US President Joe Biden to seriously consider an option for a military attack against Iran. "The results of Lapid's resounding failure during Biden’s visit are already being seen - Iran is bragging about its capabilities after realizing that the military option is out of the question. Lapid is a disaster for the State of Israel. We will bring back the IDF’s deterrence and restore security to Israeli citizens," Danon said.
