An armed man entered a Walmart in Chesapeake, Virginia Saturday night and opened fire, killing multiple people.

The incident occurred shortly after 10 pm local time.

Police said that the number of fatalities, which includes employees and shoppers, is under ten, but have not provided an exact number. The number of wounded is also unknown as of press time.

According to employees, the shooter was a manager at the Walmart branch which was attacked. The motive for the shooting is currently unknown, and the shooter is believed to have acted alone.

The shooter was found dead in the store. It is unclear whether he was killed by police or took his own life.

“We are shocked at this tragic event at our Chesapeake, Virginia store,” Walmart said in a tweet early Wednesday. “We’re praying for those impacted, the community and our associates. We’re working closely with law enforcement, and we are focused on supporting our associates,”
