New York City police arrested Marty Party, a New York Fire Department firefighter, on Friday for allegedly vandalizing a sukkah on Manhattan’s Upper East Side in October.

The 37-year-older firefighter is charged with a single count of criminal mischief in connection to the October 8th vandalism of the sukkah near East 92nd Street and Second Avenue, according to authorities. Party was also suspended by the FDNY for four weeks, the maximum allowed, over the incident, also noting that he was not on duty during the incident.

According to authorities, the NYFD member approached a sukkah and began kicking it, causing damage to the structure. He then proceeded to enter the sukkah and urinated in it.

A few hours after Party's arrest, an additional, seemingly antisemitic, incident occurred on the Upper East Side, when unknown suspects smashed a glass Hanukkah menorah outside Chabad Israel Center.

Rabbi Uriel Vigler the Rabbi of the Chabad Israel Center on the Upper told Jews of New York: “This was definitely a malicious and intentional act. The ice was smashed from both sides. Also on Sukkot, we faced this kind of hate when our sukkah was vandalized. On Hanukkah Jews light the menorah purposely at night time in order to spread light, because just of bit of light dispels the darkness.

The forces of hatred will never be victorious! Even though we no longer have this ice menorah we still plan to light the 5th night tonight and pray that light will win over darkness like it always has for the Jewish people”.
