As part of Operation "Break the Wave" and the overall effort to increase the security along the Judea and Samaria security barrier, the "Maccabim" Brigade Headquarters was instigated in 2022. The headquarters was tasked with leading the Judea and Samaria Division’s efforts to prevent infiltration through the security barrier in the Maccabim region. This decision was made while 11 battalions were simultaneously tasked with reinforcing the security barrier's entire length.

In light of a significant decline in illegal barrier infiltrations and the IDF's additional operational tools, including the improvement of maneuvering capabilities, intelligence gathering capabilities, the strengthening of the defensive infrastructure along the security barrier and engineering projects along with civil construction projects at various crossings, a situational assessment was conducted in the Central Command. As part of the assessment, it was decided to end the activity of the "Maccabim" Brigade Headquarters. The soldiers operating under the headquarters will be subordinated to the Ephraim and Benyamin brigades, and eight battalions were assigned the task of reinforcing the security barrier. In addition, it was decided that the battalion assigned to the Oranit area would also cease activities.

The IDF is acting continuously and will proceed to act as part of Operation "Break the Wave" in order to prevent infiltration and thwart terrorism in the area of the Judea and Samaria security barrier.
