A Palestinian Arab was shot dead by residents of Havat Yair in Samaria. Preliminary IDF investigations found that a violent confrontation developed between Jews and Arabs near Havat Yair. One of the Jews allegedly opened fire after an Arab hit one of the Jews in the head with a stone. On Saturday evening Samaria Regional Council Cheif Yossi Dagan held a briefing with Havat Yair leadership and spoke with defense officials to receive a complete picture of the incident. Following the briefing, Dagan announced that he completely supported the resident who opened fire and protected the lives of those around him. He added, "The resident who shot acted appropriately when he defended himself from the mob of terrorists who were out of control. The situation in which Israelis can't walk around near their homes, fearing for their lives, is intolerable and can not continue. This incident comes after an incident on Friday night. These were probably the same rioters who infiltrated the farm next door and violently attacked a female resident. If not for her presence of mind in grabbing a farming tool and the fact that the response team came quickly, the incident could have ended differently, and we could have found ourselves at her funeral. We demand that the terrorist trying to make our lives hell be caught. Their attempt won't succeed. We will continue to build and make the desert bloom in our land, Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Negev, Galilee, Judea, and Samaria."
