Settlement and security figures, along with statesmen, politicians, and spiritual leaders, toured the Jordan Valley on Sunday as part of an event entitled "Sovereignty from Vision to Reality," organized by The Sovereignty Movement and Israel Forever, which seek to promote the application of sovereignty, Israeli civilian governance, in the Jordan Valley as a first step in realizing the broader vision of sovereignty.

"For the past ten years, we have been dealing with the idea of the application of sovereignty but now that there is a fully-right-wing government, we can go from a vision to a reality, to implement it. And we think that the first step has to be the application of Israeli sovereignty over the Jordan Valley," says Nadia Matar, co-chairwoman of the Sovereignty Movement.

Matar explains why the movement is choosing to begin in the Jordan Valley, "First of all, there's a broad consensus, there's no left and right on this issue. The majority of the people in Israel and in the Knesset are in favor of the application of Israeli sovereignty here. We have people here from the coalition and also from the opposition, together, they are saying, as Sharren Haskel said earlier, there is no opposition when it comes to the Jordan Valley""

Matar explains the move's urgency: "Every minute that we speak and do not act, the Arabs have taken over another hill, somewhere here in Judea and Samaria. Why? Because there's no sovereignty, we basically are giving a message that it's not really ours."

Nadia explains a few additional reasons to begin applying sovereignty with the Jordan Valley: "It's 30% of Judea and Samaria. It is the eastern border of Israel, and therefore when there, not if, there is sovereignty over the Jordan Valley first, it will prevent the creation of a Palestinian State in the middle [between the Jordan River and pre-1967 Israe].. There is no demographic problem because we're talking about only a few thousand Arabs."

She insists that we can no longer say that we need to wait for a better time. "There is no better time than now when there is an overwhelming majority of the Jewish people who voted for a completely right-wing government, with the support of the Zionist left, which is in favor of sovereignty over the Jordan Valley and let me tell you, it will change the entire world. Finally, we will say 'this is our land."
