An IDF veteran attempted to set fire to himself and a Defense Ministry rehabilitation office that assists injured soldiers this morning (Monday), the ministry stated. He was taken to the hospital with light injuries. The 38-year-old man was angered that he is not recognized as a disabled veteran, according to the Defense Ministry. His application for recognition as a disabled veteran was dismissed in 2012. The attempted arson occurred at the Defense Ministry Rehabilitation Department offices in Tiberias, where the suspect was spotted pouring a flammable liquid at the entrance to the office. “Security guards who identified the act reacted quickly and took control of the man within a few seconds,” the ministry said. The guards sprayed the man with a fire extinguisher. He was taken to Baruch Padeh Medical Center, where he is undergoing medical tests.
