Despite the reports of an imminent ceasefire on the Gaza border, the Islamic Jihad terrorist organization continues to fire rocket barrages at Israel.
Around nine o'clock this evening (Wednesday), a heavy volley of rockets was fired at the communities of the Gaza envelope. A rocket directly hit a house in Ashkelon and caused heavy damage. There were no injuries as the members of the house were staying in a protected area during the barrage.
In Sderot, a rocket exploded in the garden of a private house and one person was treated for anxiety.
Shortly after the latest barrage, an IDF aircraft attacked an Islamic Jihad anti-aircraft firing position in the southern Gaza Strip. The position was used by the terrorist squad whose vehicle was attacked by IDF planes yesterday near Khan Yunis, with the aim of launching anti-tank missiles towards Israeli territory.
Nearly 80 rockets were fired at Israel during the latest barrage. One rocket hit a yeshiva building in Netivot and caused damage. There were no casualties. In Be'er Sheva, a man was lightly injured while running to a shelter and two people were treated for anxiety as a result of the rocket attacks. Well over 300 rockets have been fired at Israel today.
In Netivot, medical forces were called to a house which was struck by a rocket, but the owner of the house had been in a protected area during the rocket strike and was uninjured.
MDA EMTMaoz Viberman said: "When we arrived at the scene, we saw destruction in the living room of the house. A 40-year-old man was walking around without any injuries at all. He told us that he obeyed the life-saving instructions of the Home Front Command and entered a protected area as soon as he heard the alarm, thus saving his life."
