Menachem Ordman, the Israeli man who was moderately injured in a terrorist shooting attack in northern Samaria, recounted the terrifying moments in which terrorists attempted to murder him "at point blank range."
"I stopped the car at the Efes Junction to talk on the phone because there is no reception anywhere in that area. After a minute or two, a white car came and went in front of me. The back window, which was black, was opened, an M16 weapon was pulled out and began shooting. Somehow I realize that I am still alive by a miracle, by miracles. I took out my gun and started returning fire. Suddenly I heard them say in Arabic that it was time to leave," Ordman said from his hospital bed.
He added: "I call on the Israeli government to block all the crossings that the Palestinians and the terrorists have to drive there on the axis, and to launch an operation to eliminate terrorism in the northern Samaria region, which has become the Wild West. I miraculously got out alive, but two weeks ago Meir was murdered. We don't want any more similar stories."
Ordman was informed just this morning that he would assume the position of military security coordinator for the community of Mevo Dotan.
Samaria Regional Council chairman Yossi Dagan said: "Menachem, a father of five, survived by a miracle. We are not ready to continue relying on miracles, not ready to continue escorting widows and orphans to the cemeteries. We demand an offensive operation to collect the weapons in the terrorist Palestinian Authority now and demand the return of the checkpoints. He who opened the checkpoint has our blood on his hands. We will not continue to be z-class citizens in our own country."
The IDF Spokesperson stated earlier that the condition of two of the three soldiers who were shot as the terrorists fled the scene has improved.
"Four IDF soldiers were injured earlier today during an exchange of fire, after they chased the terrorist vehicle from which the shooting near the Reihan Crossing in the Menasha Brigade area was carried out. Three were lightly injured and one moderately. The injured were evacuated to receive medical treatment at the hospital and their families were informed."
The spokesperson also stated that "IDF forces are blocking roads in the area and are continuing the pursuit of the terrorists. A preliminary investigation revealed that the terrorists initially shot at the vehicle of the Israeli citizen ... Later, the terrorists advanced in their journey and shot at a military vehicle in which there were soldiers from the paratrooper brigade. Despite the injuries they sustained, the soldiers returned fire while driving towards the terrorists' vehicle, and even set fire to it before it managed to escape."
A manhunt is currently underway for the shooters.
