IDF forces operating in Judea shot and killed an Arab terrorist after he threw a firebomb at them during riots that broke out late Monday night.

Israeli security personnel were deployed to the Palestinian Authority-controlled village of Hussan, near the Israeli city of Beitar Illit and west of the PA-administered city of Bethlehem, Monday night for an arrest operation.

During the incursion, Arab rioters clashed with Israeli forces, who responded with crowd-dispersal techniques, including tear gas and shock grenades.

A terrorist who threw a firebomb at Israeli soldiers during the operation was shot in the head, leaving him fatally wounded.

The Palestinian Authority’s health department identified his 20-year-old Zakarya Muhammad Zakarya al-Za’oul.

In addition, two rioters, both young men, were wounded during the clashes.

No injuries have been reported among the Israeli security personnel.

The operation comes less than a day after eight Israeli soldiers were injured in an ambush orchestrated by the Palestinian Islamic Jihad terrorist organization in Jenin.

During an arrest operation in Jenin, IDF and Border Police forces came under heavy gun fire from Islamic Jihad terrorists, and an IDF armored vehicle was damaged by a bomb.

IDF Apache attack helicopters were deployed to Jenin during the battle, the first time attack helicopters have been used in combat in Judea and Samaria since 2002, during the height of the Second Intifada.

Palestinian Authority mouthpiece WAFA reported that the number of Palestinian Arabs killed in the operation rose to six Tuesday, with roughly 50 more wounded. Two wanted terrorists, Assem Abu al-Haija, and Mussab Hassan al-Barmaki, were arrested during the operation.
